Home Depot project and Parade of Lights

In case you didn't know it, Home Depot has kid workshops on the first Saturday of the month.  Dad likes to take the kids to pick up the project and then they bring it home to work on them individually.  A little one on one time with Dad building something.  They all love it.

They got these for free at their very first class and then each month they get a pin to go on.  Whenever I have gone with the kids they always get a lot of comments about the number of pins they have.  They always beam.  Yes, all the projects are somewhere in the house.

This month was a picture frame.  You can't have a plain wood frame so everyone wanted to paint.

As soon as the kids are finished painting them I will take pictures.

Cairn has really taken to her Ameritowne classes and learning about money.  She asked to get back on My Job Chart to earn allowance again.  I upped the ante and now she has to cook breakfast one day a week, make a lunch another day and make dinner on Saturday.  Today she made pizza - here she is making the dough.

After dinner, we headed downtown for the Parade of Lights - guess what! so did the rest of the city.  Because the weather was so beautiful (it was still 57 degrees at 6 PM) everyone went to the parade.  We got there a little after 6 (traffic was horrible), we had to walk for a bit and then there was no way to see the parade because of the crowds.  We finally found a place to stand and the kids were taking turns sitting on Dad's shoulders to see.  A woman saw what was going on and gave up her spot for the kids.  It was super sweet.  The kids got to see the parade and they loved it.  We will probably try again next year but I heard it is better to go on the first night, especially since it is 2 hours later (then the little kids are sleeping).  We also took our friends N and C.
