This morning, I got on the phone at 8 AM to start putting my consequence into action. I called Metro Districts main number. Metro Districts maintains our parks. The first woman who answered, I told this story.
"Yesterday I was at Civic Green Park with my daughter and her friend when they decided to pick flowers even though they know better. I was wanting to talk to someone who could help me give them a consequence of either having to plant new flowers or pull weeds to repay what they took."
The woman started gushing about what a wonderful person I was and how I was raising my daughter right and she passed me on to another department that might be able to help me. The next woman had the same reaction when I told her the story and she passed me on to Dirk, the man in charge of the parks. I had to leave a message.
Then we headed off to my dance class because the kids had been bickering a lot the day before and they were going to put some energy back in me by sitting quietly while I took my dance class. They weren't too thrilled but they did it.
After dance, we headed home to do our schoolwork so we could go to our friends house to play in their pool and play with their chickens.
When we returned home, I had a message from Dirk. So I called him back. He was very appreciative that I wanted the girls to repay by doing some work. He said it wasn't necessary. I explained that I was trying to teach a lesson and was there anything they could do. We ended by setting up a time for them to work - June 26th at 10 AM at the park down from our street. The reason we picked that one was so they could keep an eye on their handiwork and make sure no one else was picking their flowers. Can't wait to see how this turns out.
Then we got cleaned up to head to Bob's house for dinner. His grandson, J, is in town who is the same age as Cairn. We had a wonderful time and the kids were very well behaved especially compared to the other children in attendance.
