Good Tuesday too

Today, everyone got right to work on their schoolwork so we could meet some friends at the Museum of Outdoor Art in Englewood or the MOA as it is typically called.

I have wanted to do to this museum for a while as my friend Liese goes there regularly.  It was fun.

First, we saw these sculptures of the 54 14,000 feet peaks in Colorado done in range lines (geography and art)  I bet Dad could tell us which mountain was which.

 Then we went into this hallway that had Grimm's fairy tales represented somehow (literature).

 We had a great time figuring out which fairy tale or poem it was representing.  I took a picture of this sign because I can't recall this story.  So I need to look it up.

Little Bo Peep

 We saw a pie with black feathers in it - I started reciting the verse and everyone looked at me funny.  Then Cairn got it and finished with me.

Sing a song of sixpence,

A pocket full of rye.

Four and twenty blackbirds,

Baked in a pie.

When the pie was opened,

The birds began to sing;

Wasn't that a dainty dish,

To set before the king?

Another room was called the White Box Gallery.  Skylar liked this room.

We also went into a room with a video playing of glaciers over time from 2007 to 2012 or 2013.  The music was beautiful and some of the photographs around the room were beautiful too.  The artist was demonstrating global warming and trying to prove its existence with glacier melt.  We have talked with Dad over and over about global warming or climate change. (science)

 Down the hall we saw this beautiful grandfather clock.  It reminded me of the one in my parent's house.  We didn't get to hear it chime because it was broken.

 As we were leaving, I asked the woman at the front desk how the clock got broken.  She gasped and said it wasn't and asked why we were asking.  I said because the clock is not ticking - she said, "someone from to wind it."  I thought that was weird since they make such a big deal about the clock that someone would forget to wind it. The museum is actually inside the Englewood Civic Center where there are lots of offices, the courthouse and library.  We couldn't leave without checking out the library.

This cute bear was in the library so I just had to get a picture.

The librarian could tell we were new and so she started explaining the different programs available and then said, "you are obviously homeschoolers, so you would be interested in the class we have this afternoon at 4 about lights and science."

My friend and I walked away, looking at each other.  Finally, we were far enough away and both said, "how does she know we are homeschoolers?  Are we that type of homeschoolers now, so weird looking that just one look at us and you know we are homeschoolers?"   We laughed.

After we were finished exploring we went to Peachwave for some yogurt.  We made it home just in time to grab a quick drink and change for yoga.  Cairn had even talked her friend that we had spent the day with to go to yoga too.

Finally, we made it home again.  A great day!
