Planting and then more chores

We did a little bit of school before we had to head to the park to meet the man that was going to teach Skylar and C about why they shouldn't pick flowers.

They were a little nervous at first but when I checked on them a few minutes later they were doing great.  Actually, Skylar was talking his ear off.  The girls were working with a wonderful man named Dirk.

They worked for about 45 minutes, raked back the bark, dug out the holes, put the plants in, recovered with dirt, watered and then put back the bark.  They got 3 finished even though Dirk had about 9 for them to do. They were kind of slow but I think they learned their lesson.  Dirk talked to them a lot about why they shouldn't pick the flowers and they realized how much work it is to plant them.

Before they did the work, everyone told them what a fun and easy consequence they were getting but the girls told me afterwards that even though it was fun, it was a lot of work.  Mission accomplished!

We returned home to finish up schooolwork and then planned to head to a friends' house for a playdate but everyone was cranky so they started doing chores.  I was getting a little tired of them draining all my energy with their bickering and meanness so they got to work.  I am starting to have a very clean house with all the work that was accomplished.

At about 4:30, they finally finished and we headed to the pool for a little fun and cool down time.  They were great and even monitored themselves a little.
