Art Museum and Lego's

Skylar's writing assignment this week is Art Appreciation, so all week she was looking at artwork, watching videos about artists and their work and just learning how to appreciate art.

For the final project we (Cairn, Skylar, C and I) went to the art museum today.  I wanted to buy a set of postcards from the gift shop so we could find those in the museum but they don't see postcards of their art pieces.  I ended up buying a book about the museum that had several pictures.

I tried to give the girl's art to find but they didn't get into it.

We stopped at a display where the kids could build their own artwork with felt pieces on a felt wall.  They also had a video of movement playing.

I had the girls sketch a picture using only shapes since they were so motivated by the felt pieces.

Then we wandered into the Western Art room.  There the girls created postcards and Cairn sketched a Native American woman that she liked.

Next, we went to the kids area where the girls built with blocks and then we played memory.  The game featured art from around the museum.

We went wandering off to different areas the girls were interested in and when they couldn't move another muscle because they were so hungry we left.

I took the girls to Damascus Griill for lunch where we had the sampler - hummus, grape leaves, baba ganush, falafel, and pita bread.  C tried everything and even liked some of it.

We returned home where the girls played outside the rest of the day together.

While we were at the museum, the boys were at home doing Andrew's most favorite thing - playing Lego's.
