First off, she wanted to get right to work on her art. Recently, it seems, Skylar has really fallen for doing art. She talks about doing artwork everyday. Thankfully, she picked art for her extra class for Kindergarten so I don't have to figure out an art class but I will definitely have to figure out how to get more art into her life. She says she wants to take art classes.

Cairn had her History, Science and Art turned on today too. She got right to work on her Science. She is learning about weather. She made a Beaufort Scale and learned how to read a thermometer, and use a compass to find directions. Everyday 3 times a day she has to record the temperature, precipitation, wind speed, wind direction and label the clouds.
We didn't do any History or Art because she had to take her Fraction unit test - she passed - even though they threw in some trick questions. Tricks in that she had never seen the question asked in this way. For example, Mark cut a ribbon into 6 parts and used 2 parts, how many parts did he have left? Yes, this is an easy question but she was learning to identify fractions and make equivalent fractions - not do fraction story problems with subtraction.
After school, we had lunch and went to quiet time while it rained and rained outside. Andrew had trouble falling asleep because of the thunder until he went underneath his pillow and then he promptly fell asleep. He was so cute. He woke up about an hour later and found me sitting at the desk working, he crawled into my lap and fell back asleep for another hour.
It was still raining after quiet time so the kids played and Skylar worked on her perler bead project (another art project) until dinner. We ate dinner and were waiting for Dad to come home to eat his dinner. He came in and asked if we had already eaten because he wanted to go to Chick-Fil-A for dinner. I knew why right away so I jumped up and said let's go. Now there is nothing really for the kids and I to eat there but I wanted to support the restaurant.
Look at all those people.
Why?
2 reasons really.
1) I agree that marriage is between a man and a woman. I don't have a problem with gay people being in a committed relationship and living together but don't call it a marriage. Historically, in the Bible and in different faiths - marriage is between a man and a woman. You can't change this but you can change what you call a committed relationship between gay people. What is the purpose of calling this new relationship a marriage?
2) This is really about free speech which is guaranteed .to US citizens. Cathy has a right to say what his personal beliefs are and people certainly have the right to disagree. They can show that disagreement by not going to that restaurant but saying mean and nasty things is not alright. Using your political position to stop a business coming to your town is not okay. Let the people decide what they want and where they want - the business will fail if enough people don't support that business and then the CEO can decide to change either his beliefs or his business. Let free speech and the American Way work.
Tonight I think it did. There was an incredible amount of people at the restaurant even vegans (the kids and I). Everyone was happy and waited patiently in line. When we left there were 2 protestors with signs - Overweight and full of hate and Bias with Waffle Fries. Really? Just meanness - the people in line were not full of hate. They were kind and considerate; helping out the workers, being kind to small children, giving tables to older couples, watching out for each other, holding open doors, talking kindly. I didn't hear a single curse word. It was like a party of friends. The kids stayed calm and didn't get upset about the long wait because the people around them were patient.
Tomorrow looks to be an interesting day too.
