Dig It, a free lunch and I won!

Andrew is starting to like dinosaurs so when I found a dinosaur event at the library, I signed everybody up.

At first, I went to the wrong library but we were only a few minutes late when I finally got us to the right one.

There were several stations set up.

First Andrew dressed up as a stegosaurus - his favorite dinosaur until he got eaten by an allosaurus.

 On the floor, they are putting layers of sand, lava, mudslides and other fossils.

 Then along comes Paleontologist Skylar to uncover the stegosaurus fossils.

Andrew also got to be the allosaurus.

 Next was the fossil table where you matched description cards to the real fossils.

 Next, we made clay fossils.

Of course, there were dress up masks.

 Finally, we had to dig for fossils.  There were 6 different fossils to find in the tub and then they matched them to a card. 

 

 

 

 Skylar and Andrew found the puppets and the toys.

 

 While I was watching the kids at the various stations a woman walked up to me and gave me 5 free kids meals at Chipolte.  I immediately knew that was where we were going for lunch.

A couple minutes later, another woman walked up to me and had me sign up for a free drawing for the movie, Dinosaur.

After the event, we went straight to Chipolte to get everyone their free meals.  It didn't matter that I already had sandwiches at home - we were getting our 2nd free meal of the summer.  We got it to go and went home to eat our lunch.

As we were walking in the door someone was leaving a message - I had won the movie!!

After lunch, Andrew had his speech therapy and then we headed to the pool to cool down.

2 free things in one day - I should go play Lotto.

Busy Saturday

We decided to start the new year off with a busy Saturday.

First, Dad took the kids to Home Depot to get this month's project.  They even went to 2 different stores to get enough projects for N and C.  They couldn't go because they were skiing today.

When they got home, one by one they worked with Dad to make a birdhouse.  Skylar immediately painted hers.

After lunch we went to the library to watch the One World Folk Dancers perform.  

Andrew ended up falling asleep during the performance.  Music always relaxes him.

After the library we went home for dinner and then headed down to the Puppet Theatre for Improv night.  Cairn and I thought it was hilarious but the littles didn't care for it much.  A lot of it was over there head but they sat through it.  The last 30 minutes was the toughest because they both kept asking how much longer?  We headed home afterwards and went straight to bed since it was 10 PM.  Dad was home sick in bed.
