When Cairn's teacher arrived we found out that one of the girls that was supposed to play was sick and wouldn't be coming. A few minutes later, she asked if Skylar would be able to play some of her songs. I said I would ask Skylar.
I asked Skylar and she enthusiastically said yes. We decided she would play Mr. Moon and It's a Small World. I was so impressed she said yes without hesitation.
Finally, the recital started. Enjoy!
Cairn played Looking Glass River, Carnival of Venice and America. Skylar played It's a Small World twice on accident. They both start off the same so she got confused.
I was so proud of both of them. I need to figure out a way to get Cairn playing in front of people more often so she isn't so nervous and anxious.
I am incredibly proud of Skylar for getting up and playing on such short notice and doing so well.
After the recital we returned home for lunch, playtime and shopping. Cairn went grocery shopping with me and then Skylar went to the mall with me to return some Christmas gifts. We surprised Cairn by picking up her favorite milkshake (we also got dairy free smoothies for Skylar and Andrew) from Red Robin before we returned home. We are trying to save money for some upcoming trips so we didn't want to go out to dinner. The kids only like the milkshakes at Red Robin anyway.
C was also spending the night so we got an extra one for her. The kids ate dinner, had their milkshakes and watched a movie, James and the Giant Peach. Skylar decided within the first 10 minutes that she didn't like the movie because of the mean characters. I tried to explain to her that they want to make you not like the mean people so you want something good to happen to James. She ended up liking the movie.
The kids finally fell asleep at 11:30 PM. I hope they sleep in tomorrow.
