Almost lost another one

It has been a rough couple days around here.  Jewel, the 2nd youngest cat, caught some type of virus/bacterial infection from being exposed to the new kitten.  She got very very sick.  She stopped eating and drinking and was even drooling constantly because she had broken out with ulcers all over her mouth, tongue and gums.  I ended up taking her into an emergency vet on Sunday morning.  They were willing to treat her for $700 - which would include IV's, pain medication, antibiotics, food, an overnight stay and full panel of bloodwork.  I immediately said, we can't afford that and they said we could refuse the bloodwork and pay $500.  I said, still can't afford that so we ended up leaving after she got a shot of pain meds, a shot of antibiotics and meds to take home.  That was $150.  We went home, tried to get her to drink since she had some pain medicine.  She wouldn't drink so we let her relax for a bit.  Later we checked on her and she had drank some and she looked a little better so I though we were on the mend.

This morning, I checked on her and gave her medicine and she looked worse so I called our regular vet and she said they would need to get the records from the other vet and they would call us back.

We went off to Girl Scouts and then came home late.  The doctor had called and said at the minimum she would need IV and possibly some more/different meds.  We took her in, the doctor said she looked better then she thought she was going to, put her on different pain meds and gave her some IV fluids.

She is now home and doing great.  She has eaten some baby food, chicken and drank some water.  She is moving around and purring again.

It wasn't the best day for schoolwork but we did get some finished especially since today was count day.  This is the day that the schools count their students and they get paid for all the students in attendance.  We had to log in and do some lessons to make sure we were counted.  They wanted us to do most of it before noon but we have Girl Scouts in the morning so I had emailed the teachers and said not going to happen.  They were fine with that until they didn't see us log in in the early afternoon.  We got counted though!!

Tomorrow looks to be a calmer day except that I have 12 Girl Scout leaders coming over to turn in their Fall Sale materials.  I hope that goes well and we get all our schoolwork finished in the morning so I can concentrate on the leaders in the afternoon.

I got my Romney/Ryan sign tonight.  One of the ladies I had met at a caucus who does a lot of volunteering and working for the campaigns stopped by and offered me one.  I said of course and got one for my neighbor too.  Now to get a couple more for some of the other offices running.

I am working on 2 different computers right now.  I have the desktop computer being worked on remotely by Norton trying to fix my Microsoft Word and Xcel programs.  I wasn't getting any work accomplished so I got the laptop.  I am really connected!!
