Summer begins!

We are officially on our summer schedule now that Memorial Day has come and gone.

We do school first thing in the morning as usual (have to keep the routine going) and then we head out for something in the afternoon.

Today, Cairn worked on her handwriting (cursive), math story problems and deciding if they need addition, subtraction, multiplication or division, reading poetry and of course, her new favorite subject - spelling.  She made cards for weightless, freighter, neighborly and weighing (plus1 more). She can spell them tonight when I quizzed her.

Skylar finished up her thank you notes from her birthday and did a couple lessons at Reading Eggs.

Andrew worked on cutting and pasting a kite and playing with magnets.

After school, we headed to the park to play with friends and have lunch.  My friend offered to watch my 3 while I ran to Girl Scouts to buy all the badges and awards for our ceremony on the 11th.  It was super nice to go and be able to concentrate on what I was buying - I have to go back again because I messed up a couple things.

After my shopping, I picked up the kids at my friends house (they got hot at the park) and we came home.  I sent the kids to the backyard to play in the water while I cooked dinner.  It was supposed to be sloppy joes and roasted corn but I tried a new recipe for the sloppy joes and they were WAY TOOOOO hot for anyone to eat.  I tried to cool them down by adding more tomato sauce and water and then even some yogurt but it didn't help.  They ended up with bread, roasted corn and peas.  They were satisfied and ate everything - we ate at 5:30 so dinner is still going well as long as we eat early.

Tomorrow, we have a birthday party in the afternoon but hopefully we will get some time outside afterwards.
