We were out the door early again today. We left the house at 8:20 AM so we could get to the library and get a good parking spot and a good spot on the lawn. We were going to see Eric Litwin the author of Pete the Cat.
We got a good spot and then at 9 AM they sent us out to do some crafts. First, we made Pete the Cat puppets.
Then they made Pete the Cat hats (sorry no pics) and Pete the Cat sticks for reenacting the book. Lastly, we stood in line for 30 minutes to get face painted. I wanted really good pictures so we waited until we got home to take the pictures.
Andrew got a sword (yes we know it looks like an upside down kite - his words)
Cairn the pink cat.
Skylar got a pink dolphin on her arm.
We were the last people who got painted before the show started. We sang songs and read his books. Andrew was loving it. Pete the Cat is one of his favorite books. We have borrowed it from the library many times, he have gone to story time to see it read and now we have seen the author in person. He was thrilled.
After the show we went to Whole Foods to get some food. The kids were being very adventuresome and wanted to try lots of different fruits and vegetables. We got a mango - now they have had mango before but never fresh where mom has to figure out how to cut it. A new hybrid - mango nectarines, and then we got some bananas, peaches, apples, parsnips, mushrooms, celery, corn and strawberries. The kids did a great job today of shopping the outside aisles with me - so when we checked out we had mostly fruits and vegetables and a whole ton of yogurt and that was it. They are great eaters.
We went home to put away the groceries and then eat lunch before we went swimming but the friends we were going with cancelled so we decided to stay home. The kids really needed a slower day so everyone went to quiet time (Andrew took a great nap). About 4:30 the doorbell started ringing with friends coming over to play - I couldn't watch them outside since I was cooking dinner so they came in and played board games.
After dinner, Dad took our 3 plus one of the neighbor kids to the pool so I could stay home alone. Now, how the neighbor kid got to go is beyond me. I thought he said he was going with his dad but he meant (supposedly) that he was going with our Dad. He even said he asked Dad when he drove up. We will see how it goes when they get home from the pool.

Was that me? Bethany started her...you know....that morning, so we had to skip the swimming (Grace and Hannah were not happy with her.) I hope we eventually all get on the same cycle so we have our no swimming days in a row.
