Started off great and then ended sadly

Today, Andrew and I were up early and at the store to get money for the garage sale and doughnuts too.  We got home and immediately started setting up.  We were only selling toys, puzzles, children's books, a double stroller and a toddler chair.  Before I even had everything out of the garage I had people showing up to buy.  The first person bought $40 worth of toys.  Shortly after her the neighbor kids started pouring out.  Yep, we now have tons of kids on the street.  Most of them were outside by 8:30 ready to play and ride bikes.  I was a little worried about them with the garage sale but no one was hurt.

At 11, I closed up the garage sale (it was getting super hot and everyone was hungry).  In the end, I made $107.  I still have some stuff but I have a couple consignment options.

We went inside for a couple hours while a thunderstorm rolled in.  We played games, did the laundry and cleaned up.

At 5 PM, we had dinner (at our new usual time which I love) - pasta and edamame.  Then we ran to the store for a couple items.

Now remember all those kids from the morning, we hadn't seen anyone for several hours but as soon as we drove up after the store everyone was back outside.  Immediately the entire car yelled out, "can we play outside for awhile?"  I couldn't pass it up - outside in the cool evening with lots of running around - go for it!!

It was so nice, the neighbor adults started coming out too.  I have actually never seen so many adults out at one time ever on our street.  I was the only one adult outside for a long time but they slowly came out.  We all commented about how nice it was to have the kids outside playing.  Only 2 injuries by the end of the night - Skylar tore up her toe because she wasn't wearing her shoes and one of the boys crashed on his bike.

Finally, at 8:40 PM, I called in my crew.  They weren't happy but as soon as they saw everyone else going in too they were ready.  Baths and bed by 10 PM.  It was a great summer evening - everyone should sleep well tonight.

The sad part, it looks like my 10 year old cat, Scrappy, got out sometime today and hasn't returned.  He loves to go outside (usually only goes in the backyard) but he is very scared and so runs off so we don't let him outside.  He probably got outside while the kids were running in and out, then the thunderstorm came and he probably ran away.  He has never been left outside at night so I don't know how he will survive.  I checked outside with a flashlight several times.  I will look again the morning.
