The rest of the week was pretty easy and we even had a snow day. We did schoolwork everyday and some days we had other things to do.
Tuesday ended up a "blizzard" so all the schools were closed except homeschoolers. We work on snowy days so when the weather is nice we can head outside. The kids got there work finished so N and C could come over and play since they didn't have school. I did some cleaning too.
Wednesday was nice - streets were clear early and we headed out for Andrew's soccer practice and then to a co-op after having a flat tire. When we came out of practice I looked at my tire and noticed it was flat. Drove down the road for 1/2 a mile to get to Discount Tire to have them fix or put the spare on. It wasn't fixable so they put the spare on and we headed to the co-op after having a wonderful lunch of Greek food We had a Greek salad, spanokopita, hummus, dolmas and olives.
The co-op was on fractals. Cairn and Skylar were in the class, Andrew and I played in the playroom so I don't know much but my friend Liese did the c-op - go here to see exactly what the girls did. I will go back through her blog and learn about fractals soon.
Thursday Grandma came over while I went to the doctor. After lunch we headed to a new park with some friends - it was a little chilly but the kids ran around and were warm. Then we took Daisy to the vet and finally, Skylar had piano.
Friday was pretty uneventful for most of the day until I remembered that I had not picked up Andrew's portraits yet. I called the studio to make sure they were there - phone was disconnected. Went online to get the new number and the site was down except for a message that all Sears Portrait studios were now closed. I freaked out. As soon as Cairn's friend, O, was dropped off for the sleepover, I headed to Sears to see if I could get my pictures. Got there, found a manager and she looked through all the pictures. First time through she couldn't find them and I was getting really upset. She started back through them - the last pile and the 3rd to the last set she finally found the pictures. I was so happy tears came to my eyes.
Headed home to make dinner for the girls and everyone else, watch a movie and have ice cream. We got everyone into bed - Andrew was asleep by 9:45, Skylar asleep by 10 PM. Cairn and O couldn't get to sleep - finally at 1 AM, we called O's mom to come pick her up. By then I was wide awake. I ended up staying awake until 3:30 AM.
Update on field trip - one of the mom's who went on the field trip Monday to the Capitol told me that the tour guide told the kids that the reason the helpers in the room where red or green jackets is custom. Custom to Parliament - they wanted to show and remember that our government was based off of England's government when our government was created so they started this tradition.
WHAT???? NO!! I so wish I had been there now - I would have stopped that cold and let that tour guide now that our government was not based on England's in any way, shape or form. Our Founding Fathers created our government sitting in a hot room in the summer with the windows closed so no one could hear what they were creating. Based off England? Ha!
