Poor fledgling

Today did not start out well for us or this little robin fledgling.

He ran into our window and knocked himself out.  We hurried outside to help him out.

Cairn asked for a bowl of water.

We sat next to him, talked softly and didn't move much.  We wanted him to feel comfortable and safe while he got over his headache.

After a few minutes, he raised his head...

then he finally stood up.

About 15 minutes later, he was walking around.  His parents were around the whole time, talking to him.

When he could walk well, he headed toward their voices.

Finally, he took off and his parents quickly fed him.  We were so happy that the little guy didn't kill himself.  Guess it's time for new window tape.

  1. We have birds hit our polarized windows too (acts like a mirror and they think they are flying towards trees). They usually recover, but occasionally they don't recover. It really excites the birds is when a hawk attacks and the birds try to get away fast. Usually they get away but sometimes they hit the windows hard. Bad day when that happens.
